My Affection for John Kasich, Explained.

Those who know me know of my affection for #Baesich or “#SassyKasich.” I’ve learned that many, however, are unaware why and whether or not I’m being serious. Here, I hope to clarify both uncertainties.

First, John Kasich is ridiculous. He’s part moderate Republican and part sassy teenager.

I first realized Kasich was sassy in September:

Kasich takes the ordinary issues and daily life way past normal. In the above quote, there was zero need for him to say what he did, but he did. And that’s sassy. And atypical of a politician. And kind of amazing.

Same goes for this:

While most politicians speak delicately with voters so not to offend, Kasich doesn’t seem to care. He just sasses back.

He also gets really into dancing:

Kasich doesn’t hold back when anyone is hostile to him, even when he probably should.

He gets unnecessarily emotional.

He also says really, really weird things:

Kasich Just wants to have fun.

One perfect example to encapsulate his sassiness is this:

Urban Dictionary defines “basic” as, “An adjective used to describe any person, place, activity involving obscenely obvious behavior, dress, action.” A “basic” girl is one who wears Uggs, leggings, her hair in a bun, and a scarf, for example.

So when Kasich, who behaves like a sassy teenager says, “Kasich, it rhymes with basic,” it is almost as if he knows the connotation. Whether or not he actually does, the appearance of a presidential candidate hinting he knows what #basic is, is priceless.

Now, do I seriously think highly of John Kasich? It’s hard for even me to say. He does have a fun appeal, and I totally want to be his best friend, but his stances on issues and his understanding of government do not align with my own. No politician is perfect, so I remain open to the idea of Kasich, especially as an alternative to Trump. But I’m not sure whether or not his sassy appeal makes me like him more or less as a potential president.
